What is your fair share, Mr. Obama?

September 21, 2011

Obama and many liberals (progressives, etc) grandstand the tax issue by saying the rich should pay their fair share.

We know who Mr. Obama thinks are rich people, he says incomes of $200,000 or more. OK, will he please tell us how many people out there fit that definition?

Mr. Obama will not tell us what he means when he says “fair share”, however. Nor will the liberals, the Democrats or anyone throwing that phrase around.

Mr. Obama is just spouting words to drive envy, greed, division, etc. until he gets specific. Further, until he gives we Americans ALL the facts, he remains safe is using “fair share” as this nebulous wedge.

Now, here are a few facts, right from Mr. Obama’s government:

On average, the wealthiest people in America pay a lot more taxes than the middle class or the poor, according to private and government data. They pay at a higher rate, and as a group, they contribute a much larger share of the overall taxes collected by the federal government.

In 2009, taxpayers who made $1 million or more paid on average 24.4 percent of their income in federal income taxes, according to the IRS. Those making $100,000 to $125,000 paid on average 9.9 percent in federal income taxes. Those making $50,000 to $60,000 paid an average of 6.3 percent.

What’s unfair? You make a million bucks in one year and you give Mr. Obama $244,000 of it. You make $100,000 and you give Mr. Obama $9,900. Is it fair that you pay more than twice as much tax per dollar earned because you worked hard and made a million? Is it fair that about 40% of Americans pay NO TAX AT ALL?

When you go out and bust your butt to make $60,000 and pay $4,000 taxes, is it fair people making $20,000 pay nothing?

Se what I mean? What is your  fair share? Tell us Mr. Obama , then we’ll have something real to vote on.
